A MANDALA OF INTEGRATION

CIRCLES AT MIDLIFE:

AWAKENING to intimacy [bottom]

BALANCING the past [left]

CENTERING the future [right]

When I look at this painting I’m fascinated by the circles. The bottom half of the big circle is like a transparent container that holds the circle of integration at midlife. The circle at the bottom focuses on awakening intimacy in my life symbolized by the lighting of the nuptial candle along with my bride. The processes of leaving the ark of celibacy as a Roman Catholic Priest leads me to experience the dove of peace. The circle on the left balances the past as a Salesian of Don Bosco in India, Italy and the U.S.A. The circle on the right centers on my new journey on the waters of insecurity where like a fish [Christ] out of water I experience the tree of depression with its roots exposed as it unravels the three-headed cobra [kundalini or psycho-spiritual energy from the depths] unfolding the Holy Grail. The circle on the top is held by a lotus chalice which holds Moima, my Mandala of Delight.[Prismacolr Drawing 1993].
